| Corralejo Formerly a fishing village, now lively with plenty of shops and fantastic sand dunes. This is the biggest resort on the island, and well worth a visit. Currents are said to be strong so caution recommended in the sea. Baku Water Park Great day out for the family. Log Flumes, the black hole, lazy river etc Free Express coach leaves Caleta every Friday morning There are lockers so you can lock away valuables and enjoy the various water |

El Cottillo ,
An unspoilt gem on the north side of the island. This charming and peaceful fishing village is dedicated to the virgin of good travel.....
Drive south from El Cotillo and discover the wreck of the "American Star" which ran aground 8 years ago.. |

At La Lajita is a zoo with horse rides, parrot shows, camel safaris and a cactus garden. We've been a couple of times and agree with the view that it is the best zoo in the Canaries  |
Markets
The Street Market is in Caleta on a Saturday morning - and tends to wind down by lunch time. The same stalls are in Corralajeo on Monday and other resorts other days. It's the usual market fun and games.. be ready to walk away from your bargain.
Jandia

Jandia is on the South side of the Island (which tends to have more European visitors than Caleta). Really beautiful beach, although quite a long drive |
Other Beaches
Whilst Caleta is nice and easily accessible, Jandia above is also great. Heading North there is a fantastic beach just before you get to Corralajeo. Turn right where you see the two hotels. There is ample parking. Sea is safe enough though much choppier than Caleta.

Alternatively - you may wish to leave the driving to someone else - and take advantage of various trips. There's a free trip to Baku Water Park leaving Caleta at 8.45 every Friday morning....brilliant value.
